# Desktop viewer: work with an AI assistant

> Connect an assistant and ask in plain words: it opens, classifies, draws contours, exports and reports with the application's own tools. A run it prepares waits for your yes.

Each step is a request carried out through the assistant service.

## Connect it

1. In the main menu choose Connect an assistant, and turn on Let an assistant control ODMDisplay on this computer.
2. For an assistant that connects to an address, copy the address shown. For one that starts the service itself (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and others), paste the settings shown into the assistant's configuration.
3. Only programs on this computer can connect. Connect only assistants you trust: through ODMDisplay they can open, change and export your files.

## Ask

1. Ask in your own words: open a file, colour it by class, classify the ground, trace contours every metre, measure, export a terrain model, write a report.
2. The panels change as it works, because the assistant uses the same tools as the menus. You can take over with the mouse at any moment.

The service speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), so any assistant that speaks it can connect.

## Runs need your yes

An assistant can list your datasets and runs and prepare a run, in the cloud or on this computer. ODMDisplay then shows you the price the platform quotes and waits: nothing starts and nothing is paid unless you click. A request you refuse, or leave unanswered for five minutes, is dropped.
