# Process drone photographs

> Create a dataset, upload the flight, choose the outputs and start the run.

## Before you fly

Reconstruction needs every point on the ground to appear in several photographs. Plan about 75% front and 65% side overlap, fly a constant height, and keep the camera's own GPS tags in the photos. For terrain under trees or for 3D buildings, add a second pass at an oblique angle.

## Upload

1. In Storage, create a dataset for the flight and choose how long to keep it (15 days at least).
2. Choose the photographs. They are checked in the browser first: a stray text file that would be read as ground control, a photo the engine cannot decode or two flights sharing file names are named before anything is sent.
3. Buy the space and upload. You can also upload from the desktop viewer, which keeps a local copy in step with the cloud.

## Compose and start the run

1. In Tasks, pick the dataset. Choose the outputs: Surface model, Terrain model (with Classify ground), Contour lines, and the resolutions.
2. Watch the estimate: every setting that changes the price says so, and the estimate shows time, price and result size as you change them.
3. Start it. The price is fixed at that moment. Follow the stages — aligning, point cloud, meshing, texturing, maps — until it completes.

If you only need a map, “Orthophoto only, fastest” skips the dense cloud and the 3D model and costs less.
